Please know that you have a right to be on the road.
Ayon mismo sa Supreme Court sa isang kaso: “The bicycle occupies a legal position that is at least equal to that of other vehicles lawfully on the highway.”
At sa guidelines ng Department of Transportation o DOTr (Guidelines and Protocols for Active Transportation and Light Mobility Vehicles)- malinaw ring sinabi:
“[C]yclists have the same right to use the road as a motor vehicle,” at bukod pa d’yan-“[t]hose who have less in wheels must have more in road.”
- Do not cross nor park in bicycle lanes
- Give cyclists sufficient clearance when passing and overtaking (minimum 1 meter) and avoid using vehicle’s horn
- Use signals and be extra careful turning at intersections
- Open doors with care
- Check blind spots
In the meantime, sa mbikers d’yan- wear protective gear, follow traffic rules, signs, and signals, at laging maging alisto sa daan.
